Where you were plugging your USB cable in you still do the same.

If you are using a device with a dock connector you might use the dock adaptor or adaptor cable.

If your docked device used analog signals on the dock connector then you can't connect.

If you were using any of the wireless connection methods then it only gets better.

For instance if you had a charger with USB socket, then no change.

If you plugged your iPhone into the USB on your car audio then no change.

If you have a car audio system with a dock connector you add the adaptor, as they are almost all (if not all) digital interface as far as I am aware.

If you have a clock radio with an iPhone/iPod dock then you may be able to use the adaptor, I am yet to confirm if any won't work.

Or you can just go on using your existing iPhone - it's not mandatory to change.
