Assurance is a major thing when it comes to user data, hackers, malware, passwords.
Its a reason why Research in Motion is not even dead and is still standing as of today. Iphones are not even no way near as secured as RIM/BlackBerry devices. RIM devices are all known to pass Federal Government Security DoD clearances like FIPS-140-1, FIPS-140-2, which stands for (Federal Information Processing Standards) , CAPS etc.
RIM devices including the BlackBerry PlayBook that i'm typing this comment with have cryptography algorithms embedded into the secured kernel. Also the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet is still the first and only commercial available tablet on the market to pass and get the FIPS-140-2 Certification. RIM BlackBerry devices have over 550 IT policies compare that to iOS which only has 50 IT policies. The micro kernel based on QNX Neutrino RTOS that powers the PlayBook tablet has a feature called "Integrity scan". Integrity scan, scans the PlayBook micro kernel for errors before the OS boots. The integrity scan also checks and detect any changes to the micro kernel like micro code, malware, damaged boot, damages to the kernel, hacking to the kernel etc. If the integrity scan detect any errors etc, then the PlayBook tablet will terminate the process and will not boot the device. Thats why BlackBerry has one of the most secured kernels. Plus the QNX kernel is idol from a protection layer from the drivers, file system, etc. When an application crashes or hangs the microkernel terminates the process and safely restarts the processes, drivers and applications without effecting the kernel. This means you would not have to restart you device if an app crashes, driver malfunction etc. All BlackBerry devices have a feature called Security Wipe. Security Wipe can be used to safely wipe all your personal data clean from the tablet and can be used for Anti-Password cracking. You only get 10 attemps to type in your right password but after the the 10 attemped the BlackBerry device wipes all the data clean. This is very useful if someone stolen your BlackBerry device and try to get your personal information.
