for coping with the bloat around backwards compatibility, supporting huge frameworks, unnecessary features, marketing gee-whizzery and running someone else's code for "your" benefit.

The personal computer is dead, now we have the personal appliance, progress in it?

Now whether this is result of poor practices in programming or excellent business practices, is a bit of a chicken and egg question. silly
