This isn't even programming 101. Programmers need to accept that diligent detail to the level of paranoia is required all day every day every year they'll be programming. If they can't even apply consistency to variable naming they haven't got the right attitude. We all make mistakes but you'll make a lot more if your approach is wrong. If these mistakes are common we have a shortage of good programmers.
