For many years I've said the only way to buy a new PC is to go to a
reputable shop and either have them put it together for you or buy all the parts and put it together yourself, also buying the appropriate OEM copies of the full version of the software you want. Sure, if you insist on a lot of proprietary software it will cost a little more than a vendor pre-loaded system, but you usually end up with a stronger system that lasts longer and is able to be easily upgraded - something not possible to all vendor systems. In the long run, this process will save the average user lots of money over the years.
Even the top line vendors provide you with a ton of garbage and extra stuff that should really be called malware, so why not avoid it all.
Even in a major corporate roll out it can often be easier and quicker to use a full copy of the software to create the image and then use that instead of trying to make a cleaned up image of the vendor issue crap.
