Did you interpret the Microsoft documentation on VHD the same way Greg did? Does this revelation change your plans for testing Windows 8?
It just goes to show that you guys just regurgitate whatever you read
without actually physically testing or experimenting on your own.

Grading pretty strictly aren't we? Anybody who can come back with chapter and verse as to why he thought what he thought deserves some respect. Really, "regurgitate"? Hope you never read something totally ambiguous from a number of different sources and get mislead. Like I said, take your meds and cut the guy some slack.
I have nothing but respect for someone who can admit they made a mistake in public. Especially an understandable mistake. It took me a few readings to understand the difference between creating a bootable VHD on Windows 7 Home Premium and creating a bootable VHD that runs Windows 7 Ultimate or Windows 8.
The guy was challenged, went and tested, and came out with an apology and explanation. This is a respectful and appropriate post.
Let he who has never innocently posted wrong information throw the first stone.

is the use of 'boot from' and 'boot off'...? maybe you mean the same thing but the usage in each sentence seems to indicate a difference.
while i usually use seperate disks for this sort of testing and thus the mobo boot menu instead of testing inside another os, this isn't really relevant to me. however, some of those i support use previous windows iterations for legacy software and hardware which i must test, tho so far i've not had any need to boot to these test systems inside another os. so, the semantical and technical difference of 'from' vs 'off' in this article is strange to me....the key for me is a legacy scanner i use infrequently so xp mode in 7 is perfect, yet this aspect has yet to pan out for me in 8 as usb interfaces and xp usage is quite different in 8.
that said, as mentioned in another comment, kudos for the admission/citation on an open site...!
