Everyone else has gone to the standard microUSB connector with the exception of Apple. When will people say enough? At $30 a pop for the adapter and no outside vendors can sell a version of it, that's just too much for me to want to even consider upgrading.
You need only peruse eBay to find numerous accessories at half the cost Apple charges (or less). Charger cables and adaptors under $10 each.
While it lessens the impact, I do agree that NOT having to buy the adaptors and cables would have been preferred!
And my all time wish for a spare battery that I can pop in when needed went unfulfilled once again. sad

What does a MacBook Pro Retina display have to do with the iPhone 5? Oh, I see, the author ASSUMED there would be an announcement for it with the iPhone 5 announcement and because they didn't, that makes it a negative.

Apparently, Erik hates the new connector, but couldn't think of enough synonyms for "bad idea" to justify a whole article about it so concocted the whole Retina display thing to use as filler.

Nice.
