I am far from being an Apple fan. However.....
Apple produces propriatory products, closed sourced, and it's important to their financial business.
If Apple is to borrow ideas from an open source project such as Android, there is very little you can do about it. I don't think I've ever seen Apple charge for their iOS therefore are not making profit from it. They can use what ever features they like without a worry in the world.
