My late mother taught me early on that when walking with a cup of coffee, you should never look at it. It has worked for me successfully all my adult life. Apparently, when you look at the coffee as you walk, you tend to synchronize your footsteps with the sloshing liquid, and subconsciously add to the harmonic action, increasing the sloshing even further. Of course, if you're dumb enough to fill the cup to the brim, you're only asking for trouble.
...so where's my grant money?

Your grant money was used up by the people the University hired to write the request they submitted to receive the grant money.
Coffee doesn't spill when I walk with it. Someone should commission a study to find out why.
