I'm wondering if this survey included devices that are wifi only. I have an iPad 2 (wifi only) with Facebook, linkedIn, twitter, google+, Skype, and YouTube on it, as well as some of the other apps listed in the survey.
All the top 5 free apps on the Android were already installed when I purchased my phone. And I can't remove the Facebook app even if I wanted!
It would only be deceiving if it was tracking Apps on the device. This is tracking downloads to the device. Which means an app was purposely searched for and downloaded.
If you go with the theory (true or not), that most i-devices are considered 'toys', then wouldn't games be high on the list?
This is provided by a company monetizing android development.

Oh that's right they only disapprove of Apple being an ecosystem and wanting your money, Google and others are allowed to take your money and provide the stories.

Not Really suprising to me, because I see the social media thing as entertainment (aka a toy).
Stop repeating the myth that Android doesn't have "tablet optimized" apps. On iOS, sure, it's really obvious when you have a phone vs tablet app, since they're two different things. iPad apps don't work on the iPhone, and iPhone apps are letterboxed on a tablet.
On Android, though, it's all the same app, just with different layouts. Since Android is largely vector based in the UI, and uses a layout manager, most apps cab easily adjust to low rez, high rez, phone, tablet, whatever. Sure, there are some older also that scale poorly or don't take advantage of tablet screen space. But they're increasingly rare.

Perfect Infographic. As I have seen some most extreme features from this infographic chart. Finally, android comes first. It's really one of coolest source to see the ratio of Android users.

For me, this shows that the 2 communities use their devices for different things. 3 of the top 5 android apps are used for productivity and one social. For iOS, there's 2 games, a crappy photo editing app, and a crappy platform messaging app. It kinda tells me that their users don't really know how to use or what their device is capable of.
lovely little android apps that stop the systems from collecting and feeding this info back to HQ?
