I am a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, and have been watching with interest as new releases of MS products have (generally) improved the lot of us all - compare Windows 7 to Windows XP for instance, I shudder whenever I need to fire one of our Windows XP VMs for supporting some obscure client or piece of software....
BUT, Windows 8 caused me to think. I do strategy work for all sorts of clients, so I installed it anyway (immediately after installing Start8 so I could continue to function). Then I tried Office/2013, for a while, but eventually I couldnt cop the horrible interface, the strange layout changes, more ribbon changes and other stuff, so back to Office 2010.
Now, I am in the middle of a migration to Apple OS-X (still with Office/2011 for Mac). Lo and behold, I can find things I had forgotten about in Office since the introduction of the ribbon..... Its time. Windows 8 in particular and Office/2013 will cause business large and small to reconsider their investment to the Windows desktop. Not sure whether Linux is the answer in a corporate environment, and iPads (and iOS) are continuing their charge.....
