Geeks and business
I agree in some respects that geeks usually do not really know what is going on, although they always think that they do. I had one tell me that business is easy, nothing to it. One can learn that easily! On the other hand there is business, who doesn't want to have to go through all of these changes to make money, they just want to make it. This is also simplistic. The order of business today is through bits and bytes and that is not going to go away. If business were really better off without it then they would just get rid of it, which they cannot, and that is their bone of contention. One thing about geeks is that they learn steps of how to do some task and act like this is the holy grail but is actually only a good memory. The more you do a technology the better you get, but you don't learn how to do these in school - a person needs a business that will allow a person to work for them while they learn over the years. Business doesn't like this idea because it costs money. But business is much farther ahead than it used to be even though it is more complex.
What is really unbelievable is that business would hire all of these outsiders to do the geeks work, when they don't know any more that our geeks here do. How can you let your business go to a country where they have been stuck in an economic rut for thousands of years? How do you think these people really think - do you think that they are there for you. In the long run they are stealing your business and they are making your technology - leaving you without the most basic rudiment to make money with in the future. They have outsmarted us because of greed and it needs to stop!
