and have had all Windows versions since 2.1 (it came with a mouse I bought). It was very clunky so I didn't use it much. However, since we just bought new laptops for the family (the old ones were on their last legs, being 8-10 years old and developing hardware issues), we qualify for the $15.00 Win 8 Pro upgrades. I think I'll spend the money on it as I do like the other improvements to the OS and there are third-party options available to get rid of Metro.

I've tried Ubuntu (and other distros) in the past, but I never get very far with it. I may give 12.10 a look on one of the old machines. I've heard good things about it.
