I have seen "From Beyond", "Dagon" and "In the Mouth of Madness" and I enjoyed them all.
"In the Mouth of Madness" is my favourite "Lovecraftian" themed movie.

He directed the 2nd episode of Showtime's "Master of Horror" series back in 2005...with an episode titled "H.P. Lovecraft's Dreams in the Witch House".
That was a very faithful adaptation of the story, and my wife enjoyed it (although she's a fan of horror, she's not really a Lovecraft fan).
Edit: although not strictly a Lovecraft adaptation, John Carpenter's contribution to that same TV series, "Cigarette Burns", is very similar to In the Mouth of Madness, in that the primary character is searching for an elusive print of a movie that's said to induce madness in everyone that views it.

What about "The Dunwich Horror"? That had a pretty high level of stars in it including Sandra Dee and Dean Stockwell...it was released in 1970. It has all the cheese factors as well. Thyen the was Reanimator and Reanimator 2in the 80's...
the one I like best is The Haunted Palace, which despite being branded as Poe is actually a loose adaptation of The Case of Charles Dexter Ward (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0057128/).

but I don't see how the title of "In the Mouth of Madness" is composited from The Shadow Over Innsmouth and At the Mountains of Madness. Maybe the story is, but certainly not the title. Ia! Ia!
If you pronounce the town name as Inn's Mouth instead of Innsmuth, you might see it.
I would recommend the following that are in keeping with Lovecraft's vision:
AM1200 Which is the nasty little tale of a crooked man on the run from the law that steps straight into the darkness. http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=16ol-m58Dt4&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D16ol-m58Dt4 is the trailer with the film available at http://www.am1200.com/. I caught this one at the Lovecraft Film Festival several years back and it is indeed the stuff of nightmares.
HellBoy is the one non-Lovecraft film that has more Lovecraft elements than you can shake a Yellow Sign at! It should have gotten a mention.
The HP Lovecraft Collections of DVDs from the LoveCraft Film Festival are all highly recommended. http://www.hplfilmfestival.com/

but if it were true to the spirit of Lovecraft, Big Red would have kept his horns on and went all destroyer of worlds. No redemption in Lovecraft. (BTW. as I imagine you know, Hellboy II actually features a cameo by Old Ones (i.e., Elder Things in the "mythos") in the otherworldly market scene.
