I don't know if I would trust my info in a cloud service. I never used the HP Cloud that was available on the PCs I bought 4 years ago. Then when zomodrive was showing up as a problem I discovered that zumodrive was for the HP Cloud, which ended earlier this year. Some people I know lost their data as they were not notified that the service was ending. Although I didn't have any data in the HP Cloud, as a registered user I was not aware of nor notified this disappearing service. A cloud service would need to prove a commitment to longevity of service.
We've dealt with a few outages with Amazon so it would interesting to know the differences in business continuity and disaster recovery between the platforms. As a Telecom/Network Consultant my biggest challenge when advising clients on the Cloud Providers is understanding the underlying network topology, security policies, and SLA's between the providers. Nonetheless the more competition, the more the companies will focus on fixing the gaps in their services to gain market share, which will benefit everyone.
Like to try it out, but still need to provide credit info right after login. Without credit card info, no way to poke around.
