Even though the global company I work for allows use of the iPhone, the use of iCloud and Siri is heavily restricted. This is primarily due to the almost complete lack of information provided by Apple on their collection, use, and handling of collected user information.
This has not been an issue with RIM, MS, or Google.
Because they regard themselves as a consumer technology company.

When you are consumer tech company, you can dictate your prices. Large enterprises want discounts. Apple doesn't discount.

When you are a consumer tech company, you don't have to release technology roadmaps. Large enterprises want roadmaps.

When you are a consumer tech company, you don't customize your product for an individual company or user. Large enterprises want customizations that work they way they want to work (good, bad, indifferent).

Apples doesn't consider itself an enterprise technology company because being an enterprise technology company goes against everything that makes Apple profitable: no discounting, closely held information and no customization.
I'm sorry, but how is this enterprise related? When I am moving data for a business rarely do I ever use a local peripheral. It's much easier to move it over a network. It does have a gigabit NIC card correct?

Apple is like a closed company - almost communist in thinking. Buy our products. Don't like the way we do things, go elsewhere. And that's what many are doing. Slowly, Apple's walls are dropping. Three less than stellar quarter in a row. Price per share has dropped. Now they are desparate to release a full and mini iPad at the same time.

According to Apple's regional reps who have visited, they have been adamant that they have/will not abandon the enterprise altogether. Perhaps BIG enterprise though - hence the hardware deprecation. From my perspective, they have been reasonably responsive with updates to it's server product - building new features in, pushing out updates etc. The onslaught of iOS devices in the workplace, in an of itself, certainly must contribute to their profitability. They don't appear to be slacking off with Profile Manager either - not to mention the sandboxed iOS security architecture.
