Tim has described some of the flexibility available with Google Groups, can you see the possibilities of this Google Apps feature?
Hopefully this will save you some time or by the time you read this Google will have changed this critical flaw.
With a collaborative inbox there is a great likely hood that you will want email responses to be sent by default from the group. Settings will allow the member to choose to select send from group (like one can choose the from email address in gmail). Unlike in gmail there is no way of choosing what the default is in groups.
So the problem will arise when the member does not change the "from" their email address to the group email address...on each email they send. So for example if bobsmith@yourbestcustomer.com emails your collaborative inbox (Group = support@bigbusiness.com) and the reply from is not changed from the members individual email then when Bob replies to that email Bob's email will go to the individuals email instead of support@bigbusiness.com.
