Amen to that. Operating system, office software, database, all can be license-free and hassle-free.
1. Use open source software that has no license issues;
2. Have a policy that anyone wanting to go the BYOD route instead of the corporate devices route has to provide their own software as well. That should cut down on those wanting to BYOD - naturally if the company is pushing BYOD to save buying gear, this won't work.
