For many years along my favourite is Talend Open Studio, which has started as open software.
Talend as organisation has promoted free usage of this software, but also support this software with many connectors, and has developed both as company and from 'the community' various very smart datawarehouse utilities.
Maybe the best way is to discover this magic piece of software for yourself .
