Good job. I think I'll spend my money elsewhere..for now.
I picked one up and used it for about a week. Windows RT is too restrictive. I returned it this week. The deal breakers were;

1. Can't join to my domain
2. No way to run GoToMyPC on it.

I really did like the look, feel, and even the keyboard. I will probably pick up the Windows 8 Pro version when released.
The 2 problems you mentioned are well known before surface RT is shipped. You should not need to spend time to pick one up at all. And yes, Surface Pro will able to do what you want (at least that's what they said).
Anyone with half a brain would know you can't join a Windows RT device to the domain

Its a great device, even though its a stripped down version of windows
You will have to wait until Windows 9, and there is no guarantee you could install Windows 9 on your Surface Tablet.

Microsoft could use this opportunity to create a rolling operating system, but we know they wont.

You people seriously expect Microsoft to provide new features to an existing operating system. Don't kid yourselves, they have never done that, and they never will. MS produces shrink wrapped software and that's it. They have no incentive to upgrade an old version for free.
Someone with the hots for MS is systematically downvoting anything that doesn't think W8 is the greatest thing since sexual intercourse. He or she can't be bothered to point out what they're disagreeing with. I've taken to considering it a badge of honor and a confirmation of my position.
The rest of us will help you with your goal to have the first post downvoted into triple digits grin
anyone who speaks against Win 8 in any way. Voted on both posts he hit.
the information I've seen on the MS site is the pre-load of the cut back MS Office is only on the Surface RT and the EULA for that specifically precludes the use of that version of MSO for any use by a charitable organisation or any corporate or commercial usage, with threats of major court action if you do. Thus the RT is clearly NOT for the enterprise environment. I also wonder how they'd know if you're violating that term, but they do say it regularly reports back to MS what you're doing with the system.
You're all set. It's buried among the T&C's but if you own a enterprise license for office, or an Office 365 license (that includes the Office download, which I do) you're set.
Logically, surface RT should not have the desktop mode as it can't run legacy software. However, it doesn't have enough apps at the moment and so it needs the desktop mode IE10 and office to compensate it. Hopefully in the future, WinRT could totally dump the desktop mode.
Remember this and you will give it a positive review

Especially when comparing it to the ipad

Maybe its more like a hooker, you have to pay for it, it doesn't last long, and its full of STD's.

...This post is just a test to see if I get more up votes or down votes. Based on title or content.

I'm sure everyone knows this by now, but the "Dropbox Browser" for WRT did not work. However, the "All My Storage" app seems to play nicely with my dropbox, both uploading and downloading.
for any sort of commercial activity or charitable work or Microsoft will sue you and their monthly report home will be sure to dob you in if you do.
but it's not like Android or iOS has come out with holy water yet for their tablets either. I have an iPad and will keep it, but if MS is telling me that they can produce a tablet with a full powered operating system, USB ports, and expandable memory.. I've got no problems giving that a shot. But I still need to see that tablet.. supposedly January.
