These endorsements are just people patting each other on their backs, isn't the fact that a person who already is a business friend on your list, a endorsement enough?

I got endorsed for having good SDLC skills by a friend that is in a entirely different industry than me, who doesn't have a clue what SDLC is, so I really think it makes your credibility lessen in eyes of your peers.

It just seems like this is a tool for Linkedin to get more traffic because people will feel obligated to endorse their friends back too.

I would rather have a well thought out recommendation than a silly endorsement that someone just issued a mindless click too.
