The title says "Download and install the Windows 8 Media Center Pack for free". It is not "for free" it is for $9.99
It clearly says
However, between now and January 31, 2013, if you are running Windows 8 Pro, you can download and install the Windows 8 Media Centre Pack for FREE.
I Believe that Free means Free in this case. Though I did correct the spelling error in Centre.

Requires going to a web page to get the key that makes it free. Looks like it is a 72 hour wait today, which probably means that a human will supply it on Monday.
If the article was written better, the instruction for getting to the second slide would have been on the first slide text. (You won't see the second image until you read the text below it in the article)

Yup! I got the 72 hours notice as well. Glad I did today. Should have it in time for the weekend.
I was confused that the e-mail did not arrived immediately so I filled the solicitude twice and I received two e-mails. I do not understand why this delay. At the end my free copy is working
I know that Win 8 comes with the feature to reset to an initial state or clean install. The question will obviously be Will Media Center remain installed or do I have to install it again. If I do have to install it again where am I going to get another Product Key, if the one that was provided will no longer be good.
I haven't even gotten to the upgrade to media center yet. But, I would like to make a comment about the upgrade for $39.99. Sounds great until you realize that a lot of the programs from xp, vista and 7 will not work on windows 8 and if you want to install your old operating system you have to also BUY an upgrade disk if you want to upgrade with Windows 8 later. No TOS file to use. You have to buy an upgrade disk. It's no bargain for what you get. So, it will cost 70 dollars total. oh, Plus tax. I am very dissapointed with this operating system. Just like Vista it was released before it was done. Between crashes and notices that programs are not compatable it's not worth the effort. Do yourself a favor. If you have Windows xp or Vista upgrade to Windows7. I just wasted over $200.00 on Windows 8 programs and not to mention the time trying it to work correctly. I build and repair and build Windows pcs and notbook. So, it's not like I don't know what I am doing. And BTW: A number of people I know who got the new Windows tablet, they also freeze and crash. I'll keep the programs and use them in maybe a year when they finally get all of the crap out of it. I am a club dj also and The fade option on the media player doesn't even work on Windows 8. It fades every other song instead of everyone....
Hello!
Thanks for a very informative article.
What happens if in the future, my PC's hard drive dies and I have to re-install Windows 8,
Do I have to buy Windows Media Center key and go through the whole process again?
Regards
