Great write up Will. CaptureToCloud allows you to capture important web or file content across iOS, Android, and desktop platforms. The collaborative features on the desktop version includes a Facebook-style conversation, but it's private and you can post any of your content into the activity stream. Capturing, sharing, and collaborating on any content is awesome.
While all this looks good, this application is a prime example of an application that does not value anyones privacy. There is no way to create an account without a Google ID and that just sucks.
No matter what vendors say, 99.99999999999999999% cannot be trusted.
For me, this application would be great but the privacy issue kills it.

Hi there,
We do care about the user's privacy. Google is dedicated to privacy, yet we understand your concerns. 300 million users already have a Google ID and by logging in with it, there is no need to create another username. We have no way to access your personal data or password, yet you still have integration with Google Drive. In the future, we'll implement the ability to create your own login and password.
Thank you for trying out our app! We really appreciate it!
Best regards,
Lindsay @ CaptureToCloud

App looks very useful. I have content scattered across multiple devices in multiple forms, this looks like a good solution. It also eliminates the copy-paste hassle I usually do when I see useful info on the Internet.
I'm glad to run across this. Capturing web pages is something I do quite often and the ability to do it using a cloud-based service and then be able to access what I've saved using any of my devices or a PC would be very useful for me. I'll be giving the service a try. Thanks for the very informative article, and especially the generous number of screen caps!
I use this app in my Firefox browser for school projects - getting web pages and then adding Docs and pictures. The other people on my team add their stuff to the workspace we create too. We use this mostly on PCs and the iPads our school gives us. This makes our project a lot easier to complete!
Glad to see you writing about CapturetoCloud. I started using this product 3 months ago on my iPhone and PC (Chrome browser). So far, I've created one workspace to share product and industry info with my sales team (web pages, PPTs, Word docs) and I share one workspace with marketing (they own it and I view/share items). I also have a few workspaces for my personal interests - music research and family history (lots of web pages and images). I'm a user of Dropbox and GDrive too, but can't create visual workspaces to share in these services.
I don't use this on iPad, but use it on my PC to organize materials for a professional course I'm taking while working. I also use CapturetoCloud to pull together schedules, safety information, holiday hours and operating instructions for my work team. Everybody just logs in with their Google username to view everything. The team also leaves me questions in the conversation mode. We make food products so we always have a lot of new regulations and rules to keep up with.
I guess there's always room for yet another offering to choose from, but Evernote Web Clipper has been doing this for years with Firefox and Chrome extensions. They've got like 50 million users, and a muuuuch deeper feature set (like OCR and index all images automatically, translate audio, and a whole ecosystem of partners adding value) so they have it figured out pretty well.
And now with the AlwaysOnPC app you can use Chrome with Evernote Web Clipper Extension directly from your iPad...
I wish them luck, but capture-to-cloue feels like 'another (not necessarily better) mousetrap' (albeit with a name that contains the over-used buzzword of cloud in it...)
