Having Win8 installed for several months now, I discovered that when you hook it up to dual monitors it boots to the best of both worlds. By default in Win 8 one monitor boots to the start screen, one monitor boots to the desktop and your off and running. With black friday 23" very nice name brand digital monitors were around $100. Great solution for the boot issue and then you have a dual monitor environment to work with which is a nice improvement. Since I'm not experiencing the inconvenience of not booting to the desktop I've actually found Win 8 to be very robust and not having any issues even on older hardware. I still wouldn't put it in my clients offices for rank and file employees as it would create too many support desk issues.
