Having Win8 installed for several months now, I discovered that when you hook it up to dual monitors it boots to the best of both worlds. By default in Win 8 one monitor boots to the start screen, one monitor boots to the desktop and your off and running. With black friday 23" very nice name brand digital monitors were around $100. Great solution for the boot issue and then you have a dual monitor environment to work with which is a nice improvement. Since I'm not experiencing the inconvenience of not booting to the desktop I've actually found Win 8 to be very robust and not having any issues even on older hardware. I still wouldn't put it in my clients offices for rank and file employees as it would create too many support desk issues.

The dual monitors setup was a surprise to me as well but then thought about it and that would be a typical function of Windows to to by default. Display expand instead of clone.

But seeing how most users wont have a dual display setup. This was actually a great find, so great that I have implemented it on a few Win8 boxes of users who dont like the titles being displayed upon login. They will be ecstatic once I explain what I did after I get the call from them stating that Win8 is broken in the morning.

This could also turn out to be uses as a good prank. happy

this is great. I'll definitely use it.
Is it possible to keep the 'Libraries' window from launching when the desktop appears?
Hi, Now its working on my PC but, what if i'm going to change and back to normal booting process. How should I change the c:/windows/explorer.exe
I just bought a Toshiba PC with Windows 8. Following the instructions to set it to boot to the desktop, when i press the [Windows] key thee isn't a place to type "Schedule". What am I missing?

Thanks

No I won't use this. It is really easy to just hit the keys - WINDOWS + D to go to the desktop after boot.
I did add Windows Explorer to my metro startup screen and have just twigged that when I click on it the desktop view also appears.
I find myself going to the desktop to use internet explorer which I have pinned to the taskbar. The reason - well I can use tabbed browsing there and can then copy and paste links into the facebook pages that I administer. Using the metro interface for Internet explorer makes this task quite involved and tortuous.
