To me, the idea of a human instructing a device is not novel or futuristic. The real WOT is where machines negotiate with each other, and learn from human behaviours. An example of this is a washing machine that monitors utility charge rates, which can dynamically change based on supply and demand. When the cost of electricity drops at night, the washing machine switches itself on. The only human interaction is by setting a parameter on the price you are prepared to pay for a load of washing. Additionally, your location could be picked up by your heating system, as you head for home the heating can come on to warm the house in time for your arrival. Why would you need to send an instruction? I think we just need to be more imaginative!
