Link is not clickable -- Few things in life are more frustrating
Should not have had to, but to save others the hassle its: http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/five-apps/five-applications-for-easy-password-recovery/1669
Which is especially sad for me because I didn't really care about this article I just wanted to get to the five apps blog to look for something else.
Oh well.
Oh well.
if you have a password more elaborate they are going to tell you to live your life and come back when you are a grown old man...
I agree. Zip, RAR, Excel, Word and Powerpoint password cracks can take a lifetime if you use complex passwords.
it is a matter of minutes to un-protect it or make the VBA project inside viewable. No tools required for that.
Yes, the link is not clickable. This prompts me to make this comment... I find the layout of these Five Apps emails VERY confusing, so I ALWAYS immediately click on the link to get to the blog format so that I can quickly scan through it and see whatever the 5 things are.
I would certainly vote that the email be changed so that whatever the 5 things are for that particular email is more directly accessible from the email without having to do this.
If any of the rest of you readers out there agree with this, please comment. Perhaps folks at TechRepublic will get the message.
For the record, I will say that the consider the various technology emails I get from TechRepublic to be some of my best sources of information, so folks, keep up the good work!

I completely agree! I cannot stand the slideshow or whatever they call it. Blog format is 100 times more user friendly and easy to digest. Not too mention I don't have to wait for the page to constantly reload.
Me too - I don't like the slideshow either. A few years ago it used to be the other way using a post/blog or whatever. It is a real deterrent at work having to wait for constant reloads
Default should be Blog not Gallery! This complaint has been posted for years and they still have not listened. 95% of the comments here are to that and not the posted information.
If they show you the gallery, they get to show you (and collect for) five times as many ads!
The missing link was my oversight.
With regard to the gallery vs. blog post question - currently more readers view the gallery than view the blog post - it is a very consistent result. Very soon we will have a new gallery view which should make viewing much more pleasant.
We can try an experiment - in the newsletter I can provide a link to the gallery and the blog version - the choice will provide me (and the managing editors) some specific feedback.

First zip one released 2005
Password cracker doesn't support 2007-2010 files
Password crack uploaded 2008
You don't even warrant proper sentences - seriously?!!
Is this really worth writing about in 2013 ?!!

Please make Galleries the option not default.
They are very inefficient due to the re-load of the whole page

Wow, a four character password of 1234. I stopped reading at that point. Any password cracking program would crack that in seconds. It's one of the first entries in the dictionary. And you think you should be talking about technology?
You didn't include chntpw, which freely resets Windows passwords even on a miniture USB stick or by using a Linux-based distro.
Who creates a password of 1234? Of-course it broke in in less than a second because the application has a list of dumb passwords. Give a decent test and not a dumb password test.
Did you actually set up a network sniffer (e.g., Wireshark) and confirm that no parts of your confidential Word document were sent across the internet when you tested "Word Password Recovery Master?" If not, your review was not sufficiently thorough.
Rehashing and reviving old TR blog material just doesn't pay does it. You are either way too busy or ???
Sloppy work Jack. Not the sort I have come to expect from you.

Yup, no link to Blog.
I wish there were an option to always get these already linked to the Blog version.
The gallery version is to clumbsy to use. Each advance means a bunch of scrolling
to see the pic and read the text and waiting for the next one to load. very time consuming.

I agree with the posts above, where's the point in reloading the page five times to read the article? Please can we have the blog post as the default view so it can be read on one page?
I been an read only member for quite a while and I agree that this should be an option not the default.
