If it's anything like all the other Windows phones I've used, the phone function will be outstanding.
I just ordered the 8X today from T-Mobile, and am looking forward to moving up to Windows 8 from 7.6 (with my HTC Touch Pro 2). The Touch Pro has been a very good phone, and I am amazed how sturdy the case is, among other things. I have dropped this phone on hard surfaces numerous times, and never had any damage other than scrape marks.
I think what Microsoft has done in making Windows 8 the OS across devices (smartphones, tablets/laptops, servers) is nothing short of brilliant, and market saturation will begin to reflect this in coming months.

but I just couldn't. When it was time for an upgrade from my Droid 2, I decided to go with the HTC 8X. I thought the live tiles weren't anymore helpful than just clicking an Android icon and looking at a program. I didn't think program, file, and settings syncing was any better than what I had gotten with my Android device. I found the phone, overall more difficult to use than previous phones. Granted it's a new ecosystem, but the windows store didn't seem to have a lot of great native english apps for what I used (I found a ton of foreign developed apps). I gave it a solid 13 days of use and testing, but on the last possible day, I decided to take it back to the store an exchange it for a Samsung Galaxy S3, which I loved immediately. I still don't regret the decision
I switched from the HTC Windows 7 to the HTC Windows 8X seamlessly. Apart from minimal changes to the formatting of the tiles, (so I could view my most important apps on screen without having to scroll down), the change process has been completely worry free - thanks to a particularly helpful Telstra dealer, and my partner who managed the data transfer for me.
I particularly love the freedom of using the Internet sharing feature of the Windows 8 phone with my new Surface 8 when I travel, eliminating the need for the additional modem device (and associated plan). Just love it! The phone is performing well in terms of ease of use making and receiving calls and texting etc., excellent clarity and volume controls. And yes - the bright colour does help me to locate the phone within the darkest confines of a crowded handbag!

I got an HTC windows phone 8s today and when I've went to turn it on its coming up with a blue screen and nothing else, can anyone help?
I've had my HTC 8x a little over a week, no complaints. Great device, Good OS, love the seamless sync with my Windows 8 PC. Plenty of apps, new ones every day. Much to like. Very gentle learning curve.
Maybe it's my age, (I'm over thirty now - (wink)). But many of the nay-sayers seem awfully nit-picky. I can remember when all phones were dumb, and weighed more than a post-it, and barely made phone calls let alone did texting, e-mail, notes to the cloud, instant weather, news, etc.
Enjoy.
