Google Apps Script
I have used IFTTT, still use it for storing starred Google Reader items to Evernote. If you want more flexibility, Google Apps scripts are a better alternative.

For example, to send a Gmail message to Evernote, with a IFTTT you can only send it to one notebook, and the message loses all formatting. Using a Google Apps script, you can send it to any notebook, and it keeps all formatting, and attachments.

There are many good examples of Google Apps Scripts, so you don't need to do the programming yourself. So finding or creating a script is a good alternative if you need more power or flexibility than IFTTT or Zapier can offer.
