The last few times I have done a new Windows installation, Microsoft has been able to provide me with drivers for just about everything, but I was ready to visit manufacturer's sites if required. Have you tried Double Driver for these situations? Did it save you time?
The author's web site does not even mention Windows 8 compatibility.
The latest revision of Double Driver is from August 2010.
Something wrong here, I think.

of utility. I've always wanted to try something like it. At least I can make up for lost time on older OS's! If it works that is!
I notice it has high ratings at Major Geeks and Softpedia.
The software works just fine, in case you are wondering.
Windows 8 and Windows 7 are quite similar to each other at the core. I had no problems backing up and restoring drivers.

I just went to the boozet site (the link in the article). When I tried to download, I got the following message:

Download from the secondary server link. That one is still up. I forgot to mention this in the article, so thanks for raising that concern!
not a new installation. That's no solution!
Besides, you can technically reset the OS the its first state manually although taking time.
Plus(!) Windows 8 has two new "repair" features "refresh" and "reset" which cover that approach to handling a quirky OS.

But, to counter your comment, even if you do a refresh, you still have to restore your drivers anyway, since those will get blown away. In this case, Double Driver still plays a considerable role in saving time for the end user.
Though most drivers are usually okay out of the box (in my exp. at least for the last versions of win), I was referring to the fact that people don't use their computers in a healthy way.
in 2 1/2 years, the first download link is broken, and the online help page is still under construction. But beyond these annoyances, it seems to work, at least the backup. I'll see what happens after I format.
Went to second site as suggested but that program is a DOS program NOT a Windows program as your article shows. Where can we get the Windows program?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Here is the download link for your convenience...

Downloaded the program, unzipped and ran it. According to the scan, I have no drivers on my Samsung Laptop.
Downloaded, unzipped and ran as administrator - No drivers listed.

I'm not sure why you aren't seeing anything listing on your end. Would you consider posting a screenshot?
