Ironically, back in the old days when I actually took a FORTRAN class, we were told by the instructors that we'd never use it.

I did actually have a client, many years later, hire a FORTRAN programmer through me. He converted something out of FORTRAN, which took a few weeks. The rest of his career with them, which lasted several years, involved work totally unrelated to programming.
