I've learned just from specializing in network security; that you cannot be too paranoid. I've had clients who had people after them, and it turned out not to be paranoia - but fact!
One good thing out of all this, is I now see many arguments ended with the question; "remember Aaron Swartz?" This happens after a lot of discussions about online privacy and free speech. He is becoming a martyr to the cause!
