Cook has been content to iterate new features rather than shake things up, and that doesn't follow the model that Apple has been cultivating for some time now. Continuing down this path will allow competitors to catch up and cause Apple to fall into the middle of the pack, the very place Jobs wanted to avoid. Cook should know full well that Google and the rest of the "non-Mac" gang won't shed much of a tear if Apple falls behind.
