Don't want to know
My company uses pay bands, but they are fairly broad and overlapping. So just knowing a pay band only gives bounds. You could find the median pay rate for the band, but that does not predict any individual's salary.

But I agree with Tony's reaction. I don't want to know. It's a human weakness that I might be tempted to envy those making more (especially when it seems unjustified) and superior to those who make less. Either way, it doesn't seem productive or something that would enhance teamwork.
