It's cheaper for me.
At $100 per year for five computers, the home license is cheaper than buying Office every three years for three of my machines. You asked what if a computer breaks? Log on and deactivate it and put the software on the replacement. At first glance, I thought the subscription would cost more. After looking into it and talking with a Microsoft representative, I realized it will cost my family less.

For the corporate users, I think the licensing was $100 per person and that one person could install it on five of his devices. So, if I recall correctly, the main difference between the business and family licenses was that the former could use Office for a money-making business and one person on multiple devices. The family license was for five devices no matter how many family members used them but you could not use it for a business.

Alternatively, you could just buy a regular license as before.
