Jailbreak and get the real Anti-Theft solution; iCaughtU Pro. It's not a service (so no additional monthly bill) and does a lot more than ANY AppStore app could ever do (that's cause it's got root access). With this so-called prey service, you're out of luck with 1 attempt of the thief to turn of your device (which they are 99.9% of the time goingto do).
iCaughtU Pro works well, especially when paired with a passcode for added security. And the price point ($2.50 per device) is great, even for SMB. The caveat? iOS devices must be jailbroken in order to install the app. This is a deal breaker for business users, especially Enterprise users that are typically forbidden (and in some cases blocked outright from doing so) by IT.

Someone steals something of mine, I wouldn't even give them the chance to do anything. If it turns on, you shut it down. That simple.
Prior to that, lock down the device [where possible]. Make sure the laptop can only boot from the internal hard disk, encrypt [if possible] and protect everything with passwords [boot-up, BIOS, etc.].
