@rasilon: There are many options for Office licensing and there has been since 2007. You speak of only one method and one of the cheapest ones, the OEM license key for Office suites installed at the factory by OEMs, and it is the ONLY version that is tied to the hardware. There are several other more flexible choices, the Full Packaged Product boxed disk and license, several Open License options and now the subscription models under Office365 plans. All have pro's and con's depending on what fits your business or personal needs appropriately. All of which are NOT tied to hardware.
