What a relief, i thought i would have to spend a few minutes quietly thinking but now i can edit a spreadsheet!
I don't expect to try and work on a presentation on an iPhone while in a subway or a bus. "Word" would be the most useful, "Excel" to a lesser extent. Too small of a screen.
On a tablet yes, but not a phone as it's just too small to see anything worth while.
Darryl's new Samsung ATIV S win8 phone http://www.samsung.com/global/ativ/ativ_s.html is a decent size...I think the new IPhone http://www.apple.com/ca/iphone/ is a decent size as well. Seems to be the way things are heading these days. They're about a third of the size of a 7" tablet and a lot easier to carry around.
And how the heck are ya DE? I haven't seen you about in ages

This iPad is way too small for my liking and requires the hunt & peck typing method. Not to mention having to change the keyboard to numbers for PUNCH-U-ation. No mention of no arrow keys either so you can move around the stuff you are entering.

and personally speaking, i'm not a big fan either...but it seems to be the way ppl are heading. We're kinda the older generation, the younger folks coming behind us, ie: kidlets like my 19 yr old, are more apt to be using something like an ipad (which I believe you can get attachable keyboards for now) or even the smaller iphones, HTC phones or other smartphone types. Besides, you can get attachable keyboards for ipads http://www.kensington.com/kensington/us/us/p/1615/K39512US/keyfolio%E2%84%A2-pro-2-removable-keyboard-case.aspx and others as well
I'm not buying any of that crap for someone Else's iToy.
It's bad enough I had to run the Update on it and take it to iOS6 and implement the iCloud connection and then tell it not to use it because you couldn't bypass or disable that section of the update.
I also had to be at it's owners WiFi connection as it messed up something terrible when I took it back to base and tried to finish the update.
It was very close to having what a customer did to his iPad done to it, but that would have meant driving over to their place of business and borrowing a excavator key to drive over it. I did suggest to the person in question that an iPad wasn't in his best interests but what would I know?
It took him a week of fighting with it and several trips to the Apple Store where he bought it and was cheered out the door which he now claims to know why they do that they are glad to see another piece of junk leave the place so they don't have to support it. Before it was returned to it's maker directly in Silicon Heaven.
You have got to love Earth Movers they don't leave you wondering at all where you stand. But you have to learn to duck real quick when you don't tell them what they want/hope to hear.

I have never had to work on an ipad and just keep telling my older girls that if they have ipods, they're going to have to do the work themselves. Darryl and I just don't do apple...period! Don't like 'em, don't want 'em. My CrackBerry is my phone, calendar, mp3 player, camera etc and it doesn't give me any grief when I plug it into my laptop or car.
Nice ending. Even I am thinking what miracle it will create when cloud meets Office apps on the iPhone. I have to try use the concept in my iPhone before I comment. But I am sure there will be no performance issues. I think if you manage your setting, there will be no problem in handling it. I must admit that iPhone application development is a vast arena where we can expect something new every other day. What do you say?
