There are some situations where a company makes an egregious error that can not be rectified and there is no reasonable response or solution. Steven Covey et al recommend seeking win-win solutions. However, there are occasions (hopefully rare!) where the blogger is reasonable, but there is no solution acceptable for your company (such as compensation for causing the death of a relative.)
