Trying to get plugged in again. Been quite a while since I have been on TR and was disappointed to have not been able to make The Gathering this year (would have been able to make it before the reschedule, maybe next year.)
Kind of curious what the feel of the neighborhood is like, and how many of the old friends are still around.

but welcome back, nice to see you over here for a change.
hopefully you can do better than me, I'm only managing a couple of visits a week.
And what makes you think your welcome here?
Once upon a time you where most defiantly welcome here but things have really changed mate.
OH and because I'm the new Improved Hal 9000 here is the link for what does what.

You'll notice a space in the URL because that's the only way to post them now and have your post appear.

I don't have any problems with intact URLs. Heck, I posted two this morning. After reading your comment above, I went back and checked; they're still there.
But earlier today I did try to post something with a copy of a M$ EULA and it wouldn't post.
Every URL I try to post just doesn't appear or if I edit the Post after making it, it appears but within a hour it's gone completely.
I must be on a Black List or something then. They probably did it after I started acting NICE.

Probably not Technet or MS sites...
I meant that I was on the Black List of TR and my Posts would be sent straight to the Bit Bucket if I posted any Links.
However 24 Hours ago when I logged in the site had been set back several hours looks like they recovered from a Incremental Backup after something nasty happened.

They're *FINALLY* on to you?
But yeah, they must have given up on punishing you when it became clear that you'd simply retaliate, and have oodles of fun doing it

I was sent to a C Net Screen telling me You Broke the Internet. Nice to know at least one of the Site Developers there has a sense of Humour.
Then at another time I was told that I had to confirm my E Mail Address before I could post so apparently the HAL Account is a New One and has yet to be Activated.
Needles to say logging out and back in cured the mess, but when I have XP running again I'll upload the Screen Dumps to Photobucket and post links.

And when I went to post this I was told that I need to Activate My TR Account that was opened in 2002. Seems that I'm really slack and never do as I'm told.

Blew me away.
And if you're not at work, you can remove the random crap from the last part of the URL for a bonus

machinery is not suppose to chew gum while ejecting people out of airlocks
I've stopped ejecting people out Air Locks. It's much more fun sucking them through the ship and smashing them against Bulkheads, though to be perfectly honest it's far more messy.
I just love watching them stagger to their feet wondering What the Hell Just Happened before I open another air lock at the other end of the ship and have all but programed Internal Air Tight Doors shut to suck them back the way that they have just come from.
I've even managed to suck 1 person who shall remain nameless to every section of the ship and mash her up so badly that she looks like the little Blue Smurf that I have named her after.
See how nice I've got. [Maniacal Laughter]

just couldn't seem to find anything and didn't have the time to re-figure it out. Kind of reminded me of the move to Office07
since it requires text to create an emoticon, does that make your statement invalid?
a mess of your Contacts missing. About half mine didn't make it through the recent 'upgrade'.
Y'all realize it was a year ago last week? Are there usually ceremonies on the anniversary of a major tragedy?
It's showing here under IE8 ands that hardly works at all on the net now.
OH and don't ask why I'm using Infernal Exploder 8 it's too painful to think about.

Yours doesn't show, HAL's does. Using Opera.
Maybe the old shift-F5?
Nope. Nothing. Oddness abounds here now, though.

are we ALLOWED to mention EL anymore?
life has been a lot of ups and downs.
doing the job search thing AGAIN, and recently got engaged.
ThingOne and ThingTwo are attending college and I am attending classes myself again.
Hope life has been well for you.

I don't know what inspired him. He's been incommunicado most of the time since last year's New World Order, popping in and out maybe once a month at most. Oz_Media left in a huff over the format change. No one has heard from Jaqui in several months that I know of; there were questions about his health. If you don't already know, santeewelding passed away a few weeks ago.
Thats good to hear. I can't believe your kids are all grown up. Where does the time go?
I've just been working a lot the past few years, learning a lot about server virtualization and the cloud. Life has generally been good, but I'm starting to face the fact that after 25+ years in IT, retirement is creeping up on me. At least semi-retirement.

I am at a junction in my life where I am looking at possibly walking away from IT, once and for all. Have a job I am applying for that will give me comparable pay without the comparable built-in obsolescence. I am tired of being looked at by bean counters as a liability on the ledger instead of an asset. Just depends on what comes through first.
If you can transition into something else with comparable pay, even better. Being older in the IT field is like the kiss of death. No one wants to hire you because they don't want to pay you for your experience and they think you're just an old dog that can't learn new tricks.
Now that I'm over 55, I see all the good projects going to my younger counterpart and I get whatever else is left. Oh well. Such is life in the IT world.

I had stopped back in then too, but life was a little busy at the time and wasn't able to stay and play. who knows about now?
Hi,
I'm still around. But, don't visit more than once or twice a week.
Just too many other things going on that require my attention.
My best to all.
