So...recently I got to thinking, ok conservative, that I can understand, I myself am a conservative... Except of course that I can't understand how religious conservatives or neoconservatives can be using that same label, while not agreeing with economic conservatism.

But "liberal"? Where the hell did that come from? How do you define "liberal"? Is it "doesn't agree with Pat Buchanan" or what?
Applying them implies the subject has the same overall outlook on all issues.

More importantly, what's up with the medical leave? Is this something long-standing that I haven't been aware of, or something new?
the glue hangs around gumming up the works for ages after the label has fallen off.

I found out on tuesday that I have fluid in my lungs from an infection, and that my heart was making a grinding sound that could be caused by an infection of the heart muscle.
Yesterday I started feeling bad and went to the ER, and at the ER my grinding heart sound was everybody's favourite tune. They just couldn't get enough of it. Eventually they decided to share it with the nice people at the hospital in the big town. Heart ultrasound showed a bag of fluid around the heart so they're keeping me over the weekend.

You should watch happy things. I suggest a good dose of Mel Brooks for what ails you: Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, History of the World. They're my go to movies when I'm not feeling good.

"And now it's Springtime for Hitler and Germany!
Winter for Poland and France!"

My wife didn't see it until she was in her early 30s. When she did, I didn't watch the big dance production; I watched her. When I saw her jaw drop open, I knew that chorus line had formed up into that rotating...

If you've seen it, you know the scene. if you haven't, I'm not gonna spoil it. Either old or new versions are equally funny.

I am posting this from my phone, so no video either.
I entertain myself by trying to predict when the elderly Swedish-speaking gentlerman in the next bed will let out another loud "Aha" and try to climb over the raised rails on his bed. They have a safety belt on him, but I still ring the buzzer when I think he's going to bruise himself. Besides, it's rough for the nurses to lift him back in place if he gets very far with his houdini act...
Back in the Middle Ages when I was 4 years old and recovering from a tonsillectomy at the hospital, it was standard practice to tie young children to their hospital beds so they didn't wander around on their own.
When the nurse came in to check on me, she said, "You have been in that bed for 6 hours. Don't you ever have to pee?" To which I replied, "I peed a few times already." She looked at me aghast and asked, "Are you just peeing in the bed?" I said, "No. I untie myself, go to the bathroom, come back and time myself back in."
That's when she decided that there was no point in tying me in.

as everyone [ everywhere ] keeps telling me bud, take care of your health, it's important.

my atrovent inhaler actually cleared up my chronic bronchitis, not coughing up 4 cups of phlegm a day any more happy
the salbutamol [ ventalyn ] doesn't seem to do much, but it is only an emergency inhaler.
the spiriva, that's da bomb, I REALLY notice it if I'm late taking the one a day of it.
the symbicort, well it works great, my lungs are on roids with it.
[ last 2 are "dry powder inhalers" so literally I'm inhaling powdered meds. :/ ]

hope they get the infections cleared up fast for you.

got myself a couple new meds yesterday, just for a week, penicillin and t3s
yet another abscessed tooth. so major pain that non narcotic painkillers won't touch.

My wife has had asthma for years and is now subject to chronic pneumonia. She had a CAT scan a couple of weeks ago and they found some nodes in her lungs, so she gets to get intubated so they can go in and take a look at it.
Lung fluid, heart noises, and heart muscle infection. I had to put a great little dog down for those symptoms several years ago. If someone approaches you with a leash and a jar of peanut butter, do NOT go with him.

Well if resting is behaving myself, I haven't had a day this lazy since before our first child was born happy
I would enjoy it more at home of course... But then resting at home would also make me feel guilty.

get well soon...and don't take any risks. wink . ((hugs))
Still can't do anything but the lightest tasks till friday. And no heavy tasks (like, um, vacuuming) for a month. I feel like a total freeloader at home.
I do some translation work on the sly. Gotta keep the wheels turning somehow.

But listen to your doctor! Rest as needed, exercise as prescribed, take your meds, and you'll get better sooner.

Many years ago I had Hepatitis well the entire service department had it after we took one of the staff out for a farewell drink or 20.

Anyway I being the Boss had to be there for the staff we brought up from interstate to keep the place running and show them where things where. This resulted in me being driven into work sitting in a chair and at best pointing to where things where located to the Interstate staff. As a result I was sick longer than anyone else and was literally climbing the walls from boredom.

Anyway well after I had returned to work I took some dealers out for dinner one night and only feeling slightly off I agreed to have some Wine with Dinner. I remember lifting the wine glass to my mouth and nothing after that till I woke up in Hospital after being unconscious for a couple of hours. Apparently my doctor knew what he was talking about when he said no Booze. grin

Of course on the Up Side being the Company Representative I was the one paying for the meal for everyone and was never welcome back to that restraint. Apparently having someone drop like a school kids port was bad for business and the place emptied before the ambulance arrived. wink
