There were some site updates in progress yesterday
NickNielsen 14th Dec
Most of them were for TR Pro, but apparently other parts of the site were also affected.

I've noticed that the TR search can now find users and blog posts, but still has trouble with discussions that aren't attached to blog posts.
To document my exploration and maybe get some assistance, I started a Discussion on 12 Dec titled something like 'Windows 8 - Day One'. I can't find it this morning. It -was- pretty dry, but if possible I'd appreciate a copy for my own records.

Thanks.
if my memory serves my right, I think they had some DB issues and loaded a backup about half an hour after that.

Pity it disappeared to begin with. wink

Mind you after being logged in for a hour or so I went to post a reply to something and got told I needed to Log In even though at the top of the page it was showing me logged in and when I logged out and attempted to log back in I was shown a Internal Communications Error Message and a blank screen.

Took about 25 minutes for that to pass and seems to happen about 07.00 hours My Time every day this week.

I just went over here;
http://www.techrepublic.com/members/discussions/2862841?tag=mantle_skin;content
and looked for his posts from the 12th and there it was.

I also got logged off, but seemed to be still loged in, could see all content but it kept asking me to login, strange, have not been back on that pc for a bit, will give it a look later.

I've not been able to log in for a week. I finally had to request a password reset and change my password before I could get in.
We need to lock out more moderators grin

How did you find it? It wasn't in 'My Stuff', and various search for windows, 8, day, one didn't turn it up for me.

Edit - One of the reasons I dislike W8 is the reliance on search. I know my search skills aren't very good, but I just tried the five words in the title and still got nothing!

Not something I had thought of previously either, as I did try the Sites Search Function and nothing showed up, but when Taminkins Goggled what I was looking for at the time it was top of the list. Ever since I've stuck to using Google not the Sites Search Function.

If that's any help. laugh

Stupid Palmetto, trying to use the site search engine again. Hey, PTBs, any instructions on using it effectively?

Edited - No, dammit, it's me. I Googled the discussion title and got everything but. I even specified 'Past week' and / or 'Techrepublic.com' on the advanced page. No luck with Bing either. I can't find my own posts with two hands and a flashlight.

Re-edited - dammit, I get more search results for THIS DISCUSSION that the original!
TR Pro is undergoing a update today and apparently you are unable to create a new TR Pro Account or make any changes to your current TR Pro Account right at the moment.

That could be adversely impacting on the TR Discussions or a individuals listings. I've had some screwy things happen this mourning so it may not be you. But then again it may. laugh

by going to your stuff I found it, see post above, if I can see it and you cannot that is indeed odd.
There's a message count but no details or links. I can only see other people's last four; when i click 'View All', again all i get is a message counter. Same for questions; count, no details. I've tried clearing cache in FF, but no go. Both home and work.
pages of 100 posts each, everything you have posted seems to be there.

I see everything I have ever posted, perhaps when you get close to 20,000 posts you cannot view your own stuff.
I deleted the TR cookie and restarted FF.
