Here's an example of somebody who raised money on kickstarter to finance a new project... he's a cartoon artist (Jake Parker) who wants to assemble a book of new work. If you ever saw the first "Flight" comic anthology, he's the one who did Hugo Earhart.

Odd question but I thought someone here might know. I'm trying to remember the name of a website where companies, sick people, etc go to beg for funding. Basically you list you product, medical issue, garage band or whatever and people that want to invest will throw money at you. It's a timed fundraising system, kinda like an auction/telethon cross.

Just trying to see if a start up company was able to raise enough money to go into production. I don't think they did, they were trying to enter a well established, business only marketplace with a cheesy consumer focused product that had been around for years but they were retooling it. I forgot the name of the website they were begging for money from though.
Damn, its on the tip of my tongue too!
