Geekend, well kinda

With the Geekend gone guess we must improvise, how about a 320-gigapixel panable zoomable view of London.

IMHO the largest Panoramic Photo in the world is worthy of the tag Geekend.

I went pan-handling in London... sounds wrong, somehow.
The distance from the BT Tower, from which they took the photographs, to the Shard, the big pointy building, is only 2.5 miles and yet it's already very hazy,There are other landmarks which should be visible but are completely hidden. The picture hazes out completely at 7.5 miles as Crystal Palace can only just be seen.

What a waste of a really good idea.
and even with the haze I think they really did a good job, London and a clear day? It could happen.

Yep I suppose it could happen but personally I think it's more likely that the Flying Pigs will be so thick in the air that London will be totally obscured. wink

Just because you come from a country that alternates between being on fire and under water, you don't have to poke fun at our weather.

That's the way it works. The rest of the world has "climate" and we Brits have "weather". Gives us something to moan about. All they would have had to do was wait a couple of days and there would have been a clear slot.

Seriously, I've seen other photographs from the same location and it's been possible to clearly pick out landmarks such as Windsor Castle, thirty miles away.

We have Fire and Floods at the same time in the same state. Like in Western Australia where they are all pretty strange to begin with, anyway yesterday they had a Cyclone hit the north and push the Bush Fires in the South around causing all sorts of problems and causing lots to be evacuated.

As for London I've been there and honestly I've never seen a good day for even the best part of the day. Your "weather" as you say is abysmal and while not as bad as what it is in Melbourne where you have every season of the year every hour and climate to suit each of those different times of the year. Only place I've ever been where I've seen bright sun and a heat wave then less than an hour latter snow.

Though the last time I was in London I saw a weird form of Snow particular to London which I believe you lot call Fog. Solid as snow but it didn't settle on the ground it just sort of floated on the ground and you couldn't see anything more than a few inches from your eyes. Little unimportant things like your Hand or your cloths to see if you where dressed or not. laugh

I click the second link and I get a black page.
in IE, Firefox and Avant but it does not like Chrome on Linux, I may need a plugin for that one.
As in no lag, no delays.
And my connection isn't very advanced.
Of course, I didn't download the pic as such, just viewed it via the site.
