While it's true that applying security patches and fixes is a major part of every NetAdmin's life. Shouldn't this article be in the Support section, especially since the patches are clearly for IE and Outlook Express, both of which are client apps rather than server apps?
Thanks,
David

Actually my guidelines on what to cover are simply that it be a threat to corporate security, not whether it's in an OS, NOS, or an application.
Since no administrator wants end users applying patches, that means that every critical MS bulletin will probably be covered here, although my coverage isn't limited to MS vulnerabilities.

On my home computer lately, every time I install the new Microsoft Upgrades, it creates "serious problems with Windows" and I have to restart my computer. Usually the restart is successful; however, a message comes up stating that my computer has just recovered from a serious problem. The last three times I've updated, this same thing happens. As well as creating this serious problem with Windows, it has also created problems with my internet access, to the point that I have to call for technical support from my provider (Starband). Has anyone else had a problem with Microsoft Updates lately?
Do you have current virus protection on your PC? If so, I would run a scan asap to see if you are infected. You may also need to disable your virus protection while installing the updates. Have you checked the Microsoft site for help with this? Goodluck!
you need to be careful -updated drivers don't always make it better-downloaded updated USB driver from M$ and afterwards lost internet connection -had to go back and use the old one!

Almost everyone has problems with MS updates, you need to be more specific if you want detailed help, although this probably isn't the right place to ask about home systems.
W2K is the first MS OS that seems to take the updates OK for me. W9X updates merely hosed drivers or the entire system.
Yes, on XP pro it seems to be a common problem. No problems on Win2k, Win98. You did not tell which version of Windows you are running.
Yes, I neglected to say what OS I was using. It's XP Pro. Someone had mentioned doing a virus scan, but I'd been doing that all along. I have Norton AntiVirus on the computer, and it updates regularly. It never found a virus. However, not too long ago, my teenage son, who had been downloading music, found a virus in a music file. Why the Norton didn't pick up on that, I'm not sure. He's eliminated the virus, so I'll have to experiment with the updates again to see if I continue to have the same problem.
Checked my calendar and it is almost 13 months since this article should have been posted. Maybe I'm missing something.
