The main problem with the unit not being networkable is not so much some one hacking the system which they can because it is connected to a cat 5 cable that then runs to a hub that is directly connected to a broadband modem. The company isn't all that worried about this unit not being addressable on the network because that just e-mail whatever to it but itwas working before they fired one of thir staff who has at the very least caused some damage.

And Yes I did give a verbal account of what would be required to make this network at least part way secure after being asked and I was asked to put it in writing which I did but so far no one has even read the thing and it has now been filed away so I doubt that it will ever be read. But the main problem here was all the supplied equipment was substandard and didn't perform as required and then theentire network was setup through a hub that connects directly to a modem so that everyone can get onto the internet but there where no precautions taken to prevent Virus Infection or any form of hacking prevention.

in short this system is wide open for attack and there is no way short of trying to fix it after something nasty has happened to get them to understand the risks that they are running. But the main problem here is it was setup by a so called professional who really has no idea ofeven the most basic security issues.
