Security professionals will tell you that best practice is to use multiple tools for scanning for and identifing vulnerabilities. Nessus is a great compliment to the other purchased tools that I use. I prefer to run the server and client on Linux. I haven't used the Windows client much, but it looks like it's easy to use and gives Windows users a chance to try this free tool that has been available to Linux users for some time now.
