I was at a point of thinking thank-you notes were unnecessary. I had interviewed for a job I really wanted, and hadn't heard back from the office manager in almost two weeks. I decided to send a thank you note and ask if they made any decisions on the position, as suggested by msITtech, and on the day the snail-mail must have delivered the note, I got a call for a second interview. I had that job for over 12 years. Never underestimate the power of old-fashioned manners.
