Contact isn't a problem.
Ouch, that's probably the worst!
I have done the "waiting by the phone" gig. Remember the old time scale of hiring no longer applies. In the last two jobs for which I was hired, I waited 5 once and seven weeks on another before hearing I had the position. In the case of my wife who went to a new position recently, she actually waited nearly three months before actually starting the position.
Keeping in contact with a company on a regular basis with emails or notes is totally acceptable in longer hiring processes, but no more than 1 every two weeks unless a solid contact has been established. It is a good idea to ask when leaving the interview who to contact regarding inquiries.
Thanks for the response!
