I AM AN MCP FRAUD
ever wonder why people get certifications?
I did... At my job, my boss could give a hoot what certifications I have, He knows I know NT4 and win2k like the back of my hand, and he pays me enough, and that's all.
Then I got laid off..
I BECAME AN MCP FRAUD..
I got Win2k Server, and 2 1/2 weeks later passed the test.
How is that fraud you ask?
I passed the test?
the point is that the piece of paper is still a piece of paper. You don't have to really know what you're talking about to get it. I read 1500 pages from Mark Minasi in 2 1/2 weeks, and knew all I needed to know to pass the server test. Never touched it before that.
I went and took the test so I could convince prospective employers that I knew what I was talking about. just because Bill says you know what they're talking about, doesn't mean you do.
THIS ISN'T JUST ABOUT MICROSOFT...
Ever had to explain Watchdogging to a CNA?
Ever had to explain VLAN Tagging to a CCIE?
Ever had to explain boot.ini to a MCSE?
Ever hadto tell a CompTIA A+ tech how to get into a SCSI BIOS?
Ever had to explain to a 3Com Certified Solutions Associate that an Access Point does not go inside a server, but hangs on a wall (or ceiling mount)?
I have, and I resent your stupid papers.
because of these reasons, I read on a constant basis, to find the truth.
Yes, I'm going to finish the dumb MCSE track,
Yes, I'm going to do the CCNP/CCDP/CCIE track,
Yes, I'm going to get Comptia's A+
Yes, I'm going to get a CNA
WHY? YOU ASK?
Because I have to.
But that's OK. As long as I'm self-content with the fact that the papers are for the paper money, and that my knowledge and experiences are far beyond what any piece of paper could ever bring.

P.S. (I got rehired just before taking the test, In case you cared.)
